3 ways to make your session more unique!

Step 1. Choose a location that means something to you.

Your session should feel like you. That might mean the café where you had your first date, the quiet park where you first saw that positive test, or the home where generations of laughter and love still echo through the walls.

What makes a place special isn’t how it looks it’s how it feels. And that feeling? That’s what we’ll capture. Don’t worry about whether it’s “aesthetic”, I promise to make it beautiful.

Because years from now, when you look back at these images, it won’t be about the lighting or the backdrop. It’ll be about the story—the memory, the emotion, and the sense of being exactly where you were meant to be.

Step 2. Bring What Matters: A Little Show & Tell

One of the most heartfelt ways to make your session truly yours is to bring something personal along an object, a memory, a piece of your story.

Instead of a classic champagne toast at your engagement session, maybe you bring the first drink you ever shared together. Maybe it’s chocolate milk from your high school lunch days, or a cheap beer that reminds you of that college party where you met. It might feel silly at first, but I promise it’s those little, meaningful touches that bring out the real smiles, the real stories, and the magic of your connection.

Years from now, when someone asks about that photo on your wall, you won’t just talk about how it looked you’ll tell the story behind it. That’s what makes it unforgettable.

Need ideas? Think of what makes you you. Bring a photo of a loved one, your child’s favorite stuffed animal, a game you love to play together, or even your dog. Whether it’s playful or tender, it’s all about what you hold close. Let’s make that part of your story.

Step 3. Create a vibe.

The energy you bring to your session matters and music is one of the easiest (and most powerful) ways to shape it.

Create a playlist of songs that feel like you. Play it on the drive to your session, and I’ll keep it going while we shoot. For couples, think of songs from different seasons of your relationship the ones that make you smile, dance, cry, or feel deeply connected.

If you’re coming solo, choose music that makes you feel confident, grounded, or even a little moody. Whether it’s Noah Kahan, Hozier, or Bon Iver, let the emotion move through you it shows up in the photos in the most beautiful way.

Families with littles? Their favorite songs are golden. Whether it’s a sing-along anthem or the Frozen soundtrack on repeat, we’ll roll with it. Let me know what lights them up or calms them down, and I’ll make sure it’s part of the atmosphere from the start.

The truth is, how you feel during your session will shape how you remember it. And when you look back at the images years from now, you won’t just see the moment you’ll feel it all over again. That’s the magic. That’s the point.
